Review of scientific littérature and related World Health Organization recent position, have confirmed the very important relation between oral health conditions and general health, more specifically with diseases such as, diabetis type II, pneumonia with saliva aspiration, and some cardiopathies.
It is extremely important to maintain excellent appropriate oral hygiene, particularly for the increasing elderly population, as aged persons have great difficulty to clean inter proximal tooth surfaces (20% of the total teeth surfaces), which increase the risk of periodontal diseases, and consequently may deteriorate their general health conditions.
We (my son, Dr. Stanislas Kandelman, physician in France, and myself) have developed a patented new technology in order to improve existing oral hygiene techniques for the cleaning of inter-proximal teeth surfaces.
The device allows to combine within the same instrument, the cleaning of inter-proximal teeth surfaces, and leave on site, a slow release antiseptic drug, such as gel, dentifrice, mouth rinsing solution, in order to prevent gingival inflammation and or reducing the risk of bacteremia from periodontal pockets, and consequently improving general health conditions.
The development and short term availability of this new oral hygiene technology should participate to the improvement of oral and general health conditions for adults and elderly people.
